I pulled the trans plug and there was a magnet attached to it and there was some metal on there but really fine, no chunks or anything so hopefully I'm ok
.
So I go to fill up the trans with fluid I put 3.5qt in and then I read in the old haynes manual that it holds 2.6, but still its not at the bottom of the hole with the 3.5 I put in, hopefully it won't need anymore than 4 quarts to fill it
.
I'm just going to leave the flushing fluid in it till morning then drain and fill it back up with the good stuff and road test it

I just had the car on jackstands still, but I ran it through the gears and I went and looked at everything while it was spinning, the drivers side is fine but the passenger side wheel has a wobble to it, not a side to side wobble but a wobble like out of round I mostly notice it on the edge of the rim and not so much on the tire

I am sure somewhere in this thread I stated the passenger side axle was the problem.

so you should swap the rear wheel for the front an see if it still does it..

we just looked at a open tranny at our yearly meet. We had a small lesson on how to replace 5th gear and the lsd is a sealed unit. U cant open it. Once it goes it goes. If that was the case we would be able to repair bad lsds but when have you ever herd anybody fix a oem lsd?

man i just read a lil more of this thread and there seems to be some false info. Thats probablyt not a 1.6 axle its just a non lsd axle. as you can see the lsd axle has a longer shaft while the non lsd does not. Second mostly all after market axles you get will not have that counter weight on the axle. you will be fine without it. (the counter weight is the only way to tell if you have a OEM axle and the green paint). and third the axles that he has side by the the new and old look to be the same exact axle except he does not have that ring at the end that hugs the tranny seal which is also not really needed. Mine are off and it does not leak. I cant really tell to much but the splines are all equal and the same length

I was looking at the new axle and the center shaft has some green paint on it so I'm wondering if they just took an oem axle and put new joints on it
.
It seems like both sides wobble like that in 4th and 5th gear but only the passenger wobbles like that in 1,2,3rd gear

so any updates is it fixed?

i gotta disagree with ya jensen on the center weight thing.. i've had issues with axles a few times now because of that, an have also read about others havin the same issue an using a stock axle fixed the problem, as it did with me... i guess the weight might not be the problem tho, could just be a shitty aftermarket axle lol..

i just replaced my buddys axle boots yesterday.. sooo simple..

Well I ended up just putting a new aftermarket axle from carquest in the drivers side for the mean time, it still shakes though (I think its the passenger tire, wheel bearing and possibly axle) but it doesn't pull anymore (well in the 800 miles I've drove this week)
.
I think I'm going to save some money and get new oem axles from greg v (he quoted me at $175 each I think)
.
It seems to shift a little smoother now with the mt-90, I believe I need some new shifter bushings because its hard to get it into first unless I mess with it a little
.
I pulled the old drivers axle out and messed with the inner joint and it has about 1/4" of play with the joint pushed all the way in but no play with it pulled out
.
I think another step to this saga is to get some se-r wheels because everytime I hit a bridge joint on i95 with these low profile tires I think I'm going to blow a tire, that should soften up the ride some
.
Also I believe the car still has the original shocks and springs, I think I might try to pick up some monroe sensa-trac from my old job up in PA while I'm up there, they have 205,000 miles on them so I'm sure they are shot
.
If anyone in south florida wants to ride in my car and tell me what else is wrong with it your welcome to
.
Well most of this will have to wait as I'm going up to PA. From sunday the 25th to monday the 2nd, and then I'm going to look for a job as unemployment is screwing me over
.
Also when I get back I'm ripping the 1.6L apart to see why it won't run
