Thread: idle problems

ok this has been getting at me for about a few weeks now i just can't seem to figure out whats wrong.
i got a 96 200sx se 1.6

when slowing down or at a stop the car idle drops and rises. it'll drop to about 3/400 and pick back up. sometimes just straight up dies.

i put in a new
distributor/cap/rotor
new spark plugs
fuel pump/filter
also cleaned out the throttle body

when the car got really back i tried checking the injectors when i unplug cylinder 1 there wasn't a change in performance so i changed that injector test drove it worked good until the car got warmed up and started showing the same signs just not as bad. anyone got any ideas as to what this could be?

my last guesses is that it could be the distributor wires or something to do with the maf

My guess would be the MAF... Also just to be sure make sure you check all the vacuum hoses.

ok i'll try that then. and i've checked the hoses they're all fine

Yea clean your maf. If not that... try re grounding it.

Valve cover gasket
PCV or PCV hose
MAF

In that order.
