I believe NX brakes require a thicker rotor. That would be the problem.

lol x2 on the rotors. That would def cause problems.

Well, as far as bleeding goes; I let gravity do its thing. Just crack a bleeder and have a hose off the bleeder drip into a drain pan. Keep the hose from being submerged though or it will stop bleeding.

In case anyone wants to hear this:

When changing calipers it makes it a very simple and fast way if you have a few pointers to assist.

Applying the brake pedal even just slightly will block off the ports in the master cylinder, which will keep fluid from continuously dripping from the brake lines when you disconnect the calipers. This allows you to bolt up the new calipers with virtually no loss in brake fluid.

When you are done bolting up the new calipers, bring the brake pedal back to its top position and open the bleeder until you get a steady drip. Keep the Master Cylinder full of fluid at all times. Once both sides have steady drip, lock the bleeders and put the wheels on. You are good to go. Doing it this way won't require you to bleed the rears either. I can swap out calipers in under 20 minutes.

if everything for the brake swap is done the right way the only other option you left out to check was the brake booster.

brake booster won't cause a sponge pedal/soft pedal. It will cause a very hard pedal with little to no assist.
