Jensens car not starting
Fishing for ideas...

Clutch inhibitor relay clicks with pedal pressed. Power is good to everything. Constant 12vdc to starter when key is turned, yet it doesn't engage. Shorting out the starter to ground kicks it on, but it doesn't engage the flywheel, it just spins.

Checked grounds and they're good. He's going to run addtl grounds anyway. Only thing I can think of is defective starter (it's a fresh reman from advance) or a bad ecu, but we've ruled that out by using another b13 ecu.

Thoughts? It's his NX btw. He's going to bypass the ignition by using a push start switch to see if it'll crank over.

Terminals good, gas in car, and not sure why distributor would have anything to do with it?

I see now, I forgot to specify. By not starting, I mean that it will not even crank. No clicking sounds or whining sounds other than clutch inhibitor relay clicking. Fuel pump primes and all elec. Accessories work.

Take the starter out and have it tested at the autoparts store you got it from.
If its no good, you are already there to get another.

I actually just had this same problem. Nothing happened at all when i turned the key so i just went a head and replaced the starter, still nothing. The clutch inhibitor relay switched on and everything looked to be working, i was dumbfounded. Turned out to be a little plastic piece on the clutch pedal assembly broke of so it would not hit a little black switch on the firewall.

You can actually get down near the pedal and press it in and see if it engages that little switch if that plastic piece is missing then I'd just make something as a replacement. I duct taped a penny temporarily works great now starts every time and i now have a spare starter.

^^unplug it use a paperclip to jump the switch temporarily to have a failsafe test.
