Put a turbo on it, you'll get better mpg's as long as you stay out of boost.

I figured out what the problem was with the mediocre fuel mileage and lack of power...

Crap plug wires! They came with the car, and were NGKs, but were some blue version that really didn't fit as well as the spec ones. After testing most of the emissions sensors and ignition components, and looking for vaccum leaks, I was stumped. On a whim, I pulled the OEM wires off of the '93 garage queen and threw them on. Voila! I guess what threw me was that I had tested them with a mulimeter, and they checked out fine, but I guess it was the less than optimal fitment.

So now the engine feels alive like it should, and my last tank netted over 26mpg.

Also, I took off the driver's door panel and pushed the big dent out. Super-easy! It popped right out like it was just waiting for someone to get off their ass and do it.

As for the nasty vibration, I put ES inserts into the rear mount and changed out the broken passenger side mount. Problem solved, but I waited too long. I think the movement and vibration caused the crack in my exhaust at the resonator. I tried some of that exhaust patch goo, but no go. I'll probably just take it to a muffler shop to have that weld fixed, or a new resonator put in.

I forgot to ask, has anyone ever just replaced the stock resonator with just a straight pipe? I'm wondering how much of a difference the oem one makes.

Looks great man. Nice ride for sure. Getting 26mpg ain't too bad. These cars were only rated for like 30mpg highway or something like that, and I'm sure you're not nice to it all the time. Am I right?

Yeah. I'm right

I had a similar problem with my NX. Bad wires. So, I replaced them with some old school Standard Ignition wires. (couldn't find NGK or OEM in time) Hell of a difference. I had loss of power below 3k, bad mileage, lot of gargling/popping in the exhaust, and bucking a little. The wires fixed most of it, but it wasn't until I side gapped and indexed my plugs, that the problems all went away.

Yeah, I'm sure there's no performance gain. I was just hoping it wouldn't sound like shit!
