Centre console after 6 speed conversion?
How have the guys that have gone 6 speed cleaned up/tidyied up the console and what have you done for a gator boot around the shifter? I'm not the most creative person but i really want to clean it up so the shifter mechanism isn't visible. The stock parts obviously won't fit back on because the cables and stuff get in the way. Hoping for some ideas/inspiration/pictures of what others have done to tidy it up.

For starters: this is on a B14

I shaved down the console so the cables clear it nice and fine. Notched it some as well to make room for reverse to be all the way over on the right. I also moved the pivot point for the right side cable over about 10mm by cutting that stud and remounting it.

With the center console all fitting nice and the shifter not getting in the way of anything I was able to move up to working on the shift surround, which was a pain. The stock SR surround sits to low and will not work. I remembered when I had a GA that the surround was different so I got one of those along with an auto surround. The closest that would work was the GA because it rose up enough to clear everything. But even that was not enough. I ended up having a buddy of mine that does movie FX make a mold of the surround and he has been trying to alter it so it would work.

All this info I'm sure would be more useful with pictures, but I'm currently in Germany for the time being. Once I get back I will post some up though.

It's really a bitch to work with, but I like you really wanted to get that area all cleaned back up.
