Where can I find 80W90 GL4 gear oil locally?
WTF is going on? O'reilly's, Pep boys, Autozone, none of them have 80W90 GL4 gear oil. Why is this stuff hard to find? I wouldn't be surprised if the stuff in my trans right now is GL5. ****ed up.

I believe NAPA sells a GL-4 oil. Check the Red Line web site to see if they list a dealer in your area for the MT-90.

napa does but it's 85w90. It's great stuff in the warmer months but very thick in New England winters.

Here is my thread on it on g20.net if your interested. where did all the GL4 go? - G20.net - Forums

I heard once someone had an issue with it. But it clearly states on the bottle safe for transmissions with yellow metals. Besides that one story I hear this is some pretty good stuff. It is not classified as gl4 though.

Ya the synch mesh is gl4. says on the bottle. I works great. But for turbo I would go back to the heavy shockproof. My P11 trans lasted about 3K miles with heavy abuse and synchromesh

If you are making any kind of power or loading the trans up a lot, go with the heavy shockproof. There is no alternative.

They must have just started labeling it that way then because it was never GL rated for as long as I have been reading the bottle. And it's still not rated as per their site.
