GTi-R Intake Manifold on Highport DE
I just purchased a GTi-R intake manifold for my NX since I have to rebuild the motor because of rod knock. I figure might as well build it once, and do it right - the way I want to.

Anyhow, I just have a few questions regarding the installation of this intake mani onto my highport DE head. I know there is one bolt difference on the mani that needs to be drilled out for a stud, and I know that the injectors require resistors because they are low impedance, however I have a few detailed questions I have not been able to find through the search on here and over at GTiROC.

1.) For the top-feed injector wiring, I know I need resistors, but where do I put them in? Just I just cut in line before the clip and splice it in, or does it need to be somewhere more specific? Also - will the regular side-feed injector harness clip go right onto the GTi-R top-feeds connector? (they look similar).
Resistors need to be run on the ground side of the injector harness.

2.) For the IACV, do all of the electrical plugs match up with the NX B13 engine harness? Or will I need to find new matching clips for the idle control system? Also, will the IAVC and such read correctly on a non GTi-R ECU? Or would it be better to change the sensors over from my motor if they fit?
Looks like the purple IACV plug is different, need a harness clip for it.

3.) Also, I just read over on the other forum something about maybe needing to reverse the wires on the TPS? Is this true?
The outside wires on the US B13 TPS harness need to be reversed for the GTi-R TPS.

4.) Anything else I should be aware of prior to/during the installation? I bet adjusting all of the throttle bodies can be a PITA!

5.) Where can I find cheap gaskets for this? The only ones I've been able to find are about $50 for the plenum collector, and about the same for the throttle bodies gaskets... seems a little ridiculous for a couple gaskets. There has to be something cheaper that will work just as well...

Any help will be appreciated,
Nate

I think I found the answer for number 2... I will need the clip for the purple plug on the intake (I believe it is the actually IACV?). If that is true - does anybody have a clip they would like to sell?

Also, I just read over on the other forum something about maybe needing to reverse the wires on the TPS? Is this true?
Yup. Fist post updated.

I couldn't find anywhere a solid write-up that explained any of this, I was hoping to find one. Maybe I'll throw something together as I'm putting it all together.

you can wire up your resistors on the ground side of the injector harness. you can do it from the ecu or at the clips dont matter.. and yes you need to reverse your outer tps wires just the outer two swap them around. as for gaskets i have no idea and for the stud deal..

Thanks for the tips Se-rious! Hopefully this installation will go pretty smoothly, doesn't seem like it will be too difficult.

Just a few questions remain... are the injector clips the same (from the pics I got, they look pretty similar), finding some cheaper gaskets, and as for the IACV plug, is it possible to unscrew that and just screw in the DE sensor? I'm guessing Nissan made it more difficult than it needed to be and changed the thread pitch or something...

of what i remember cuz i was gonna do a gti-r swap on my car but didnt happen. i think u need to get the injector clips to fit them top feeders. and get a clip for the idle valve. i think the ga16de engine has that same clip u need just find one a wrecker or somwhere.

Ooo, I'll check out the GA thing, my dad has one at home I can compare to.

Thanks,
Nate

you shouldn't need any gaskets I sent you the one I was using its metal so it should be fine to reuse

Well I was thinking of taking the plenum top off and the throttle body section, stripping everything, and possible having it hot tanked with everything else. Unless it's pretty clean already Walt? Couldn't tell from the pics

Bump. Anyone know the procedure to bolt a GTI-R intake manifold on a highport de? I swear I read somewhere that only one bolt needs drilled out, but after looking at the manifold and stock gasket for bolt pattern differences it looks like all of them will need slotted or redrilled.

Any insights would be appreciated.

I know this is a little old, but I wanted to post an update about the IACV clip. The GA16DE does in fact have the correct IACV clip needed for the GTi-R IACV. I never really found a solid answer to that anywhere else around here so I thought I'd throw that in.

As for the bolt pattern, since I found that no where else as well. All of the top bolts line up perfect, but ALL of the bolts on the bottom row need to be re-drilled to fit, all about 1/4 - 1/2 inch to the right of the original holes. (might be left of the holes, I forget, it's been a few weeks since I had done that, but you get the idea. It's easy to see where it needs to be).
