Speedo sensor help needed!
Working on a 93 B13 ,5 spd, with a bad speedometer sensor. It is stuck in the tranny,so I swapped in a new tranny, hoping to get it out once the trans was on the ground. Not happening ,so I need to get another sensor to use.

I have bought 2 already,no luck
One is plastic with a red gear...the plug is not the same.
I have bought a NEW one, looks like the right one(metal)....it didnt come with a gear.
My old sensor is stuck in the tranny and keeps beaking apart as I try to get it out. Therefore,I cant use that gear, nor do I know what the correct color of the gear should be.
I have since swapped in a different tranny(I thought I would be able to get the old sensor out once the trans was on the ground, but NOPE)
I would just love to be able to use my old gear on my new sensor, but thats not looking good at this point.

I am really frustrated with this since I have already thrown money at this multiple times, and its not fixed.
Any info or help with this would be awesome.

So, what exactly are you looking for? The correct sensor? A way to remove the old one?

I'm not sure what you're looking for exactly, you seem to have covered the options already. Only thing I can think to tell you is the gear on my sensor is green plastic. Other than that, though, if it won't come out, you'll likely have to either try and destroy the sensor's integrity from the top, or split open the transmission and force it up from the inside. They do seal in the transmission very tightly, but if you're cracking it while trying to pry it out of the case, you'll likely run out of pryable area and need to go inside the tranny.

Looking for the correct sensor...I know it is metal, but what color gear is it supposed to be?You say yours is green...what year is your car?
I will figure out how to get the old one out, even if I do have to take the case off and push it out fronm the inside.I have broke off all the pryable area already

I had the same problem when doing my swap. I just tapped all the way around the senser with a small flat head and a big hammer.
