JDM tuning potential
Not necessarily SR20 related I guess but it is prompted by Mike Kojima's challenge/ comments regarding the potential of the FWD sr20's against the Cobalt SS and Civics. I love the sr20 but think I want to wait till I can afford something with a little more potential in terms of performance before I really start putting $ in a car (i have a lightly molded Nx2000)

What older (pre 99') JDM tuner cars do you feel /know have the greatest tuning potential for the money? Total cost considered. looking at great handling and 250ish -450hp (depending on driveline layout and vehicle weigh0t DD/HPDE car .

My limited knowledge leads me to a list like this

1.Skyline R32-R34 (prob most potential and best stock performance but RHD only)
2. Silvia w/ sr20det or rb engine
3. RX-7 FC and FD - great handling and power potential,
4. AE86 too much initial (get it) outlay but loads of upgrades, old school factor
4. 240Z cool as hell lots of parts for stock engine and engine swaps avail. Expensive(ish) for clean example
5. eg6 etc Civics Prob best all-round tuner FWD ( I personally do not want another FWD)

Any thoughts? I like old school JDM and making newer more expensive cars look silly
