b13 alternator wiring digram needed
I have been getting low voltage lately on my nx. so i decided to take my car to advance auto parts and have my 10-11 year old optima yellow top tested. Well anyway it was low on cranking power so i bought a new regular battery and the car was running fine and getting around 14 or so volts on my tt for a few days.

With the car on and running it was reading 11-12 volts and the battery light was lit up on the dash. Decided to clean up all my ground locations add a few more wires and drive it.

Today on the way to work i was getting 11.9-12 volts. Anyway after work limped it home air fuel ratios looking like a narrow band gauge on the highway even though its a wide band. LOL

Come to find out my wiring on the main lug of the alternator is melted. WTF? I need a wiring diagram so i can replace the melted portions. It lookes like the 2 larger white wires have melted the casing off completely. I dont know if i had somthing hooked up wrong or if the alternator just went and took the wires with it. The battery is less than a week old and the alternator has less then 5k on it since i bought it.

If anyone has a wireing diagram or even pictures of how its suposed to be hooked up on a b13 that may help alot. Thanks in advance.

Those two wires go into plugs that turn into one wire, which goes over to the fuse box area on the driver side. It's a mess lol.

check the white wire sometimes they corrode and fuse together amongst other things, you can replace it with some 4 awg wire

There were 2 white wires with ring terminals on them at one point that i had connected to the top lug on the alternator. then of course the main grey plug that can only go in one way and there is also a black ground wire which is attached to another lug. i also have a small wire that was wrapped up in the same cluster of wires that wasnt connected to anything. I think it is like 16 ga yellow and black?

Well the 2 white wires that were there are black and all the casing for the first few inches by the alternator is burned off. Can i just cut off the bad parts and solder them into 1 4 ga wire with a ring terminal? Or should i just run a new 4 ga wire from the top lug on the alt. to my positive dist. block where all my other wires are connected to. I have everything wired into a dist block then it goes to 4 ga. into a 100 amp circuit breaker in the bay then 4 ga. back to the battery in the hatch.

First thing you need to do is find out why the wire got so hot. Any chance the ring terminals just grounded out on the casing? If you just cut some wire and redo the terminals it could happen again.

Yeah i am not sure how it happened. That is one part of my nx that i havent ever changed yet. I just got done running 4 ga. wire from the alternator to the dist block. If the fuseable link goes bad could that cause this as well? It may be what you said as well and the wires grounded out on the casing.

I just finished i am gonna go start it and see what happens.

Well seems to be ok now i am getting around 14v on my tt and verifiied at the alt. At the battery i am getting 13 or so v. But i have been running with mostly just the battery for a few days, so thats why it may be a bit low. I am gonna put the battery on a trickle charge overnight and throw it in the car in the morning and see how she drives to work.

I think i still may have a crappy o2 sensor. I will have to change that out tomorrow.
