Oil pressure switch question (dummy light)
Today I got my car back from the shop (the whole coolant hose ordeal). I took the car to jet wash out the grease left by the mechanic. Ok. As I am driving I see the oil light flickering on at idle but not at throttle. I pay it no mind. Now it was steady. I am a little worried now. I know I consume oil and leak like a MOFO, but never had that light on before. My Autometer guage was intermittent too. So I put it on my buddys lift and we find the OE switch was not connected. And the Autometer wire lose. Tighten the Autometer wire and that works. Connect the dummy light and if is intermittent. I disconnected the battery and I will connect it when I get back home. What do you think happened? Does the Sensor need to readjust? Lmk.

It doesn't re-adjust. Its not a self learning sensor.

I was thinking ECU wise. Or is it just resistance signal. I may need to change the oil. I put in a quart. Last time it did that I put restore in the crankcase. Lol. Boy was that a mess.

The switch is just a grounding switch. The circuit is grounded when the switch doesn't have enough pressure. This causes the light to come on.

Not having the wire hooked up will cause the light to stay off unless the wire touches a ground. Then it will come on every time the wire is grounded.

It is a simple system.

Wierd, cause when it was unhooked, the light came on at idle.

Happened to me too. At idle the switch would touch my flex pipe

yeah, if the wire touches anything when disconnected the light will flicker on and off.
