what do you want mw to elaborate on, the top timing chain guide can become a pita if it starts to make noise

My VE tensioner has smaller teeth, but then again it could be a RR tensioner? Dang I can't remember!

well you can do it either way but comparing stock to the updated version of the tensioner the updated tensioner is beefier and to me gives you more piece of mind removing the top timing guide thats just me

There is the little guide that sits above the chain / cam sprockets, with the upgraded tensioner Nissan stop installing this guide. So if you get a new Nissan tensioner it will be the upgraded part and you can remove that guide. You can search for it, there are a few threads about it for more clarification.
