You might want to measure with a Voltmeter on the sensor on the tranny. Tranny has two sensors, neutral switch and reverse lamp switch. On my Nx2000 the reverse lamp switch is located wheelside and neutral switch engine side.

I never pulled one of those sensors on a 1.6 but there is not much reason I can think of why they wouldn't be the same. Of course you never know with Japanese products But you might want to try looking in car parts database, they usually show a picture of the connector and if the plug will fit, it should work, it's just a switch as we all know.

Neutral switch and reverse lamp switch are also the same, just the connector is different.

You also probably will find the wiring of the reverse lamp switch under the air intake, where 3 connector are put in a metal frame. I don't remember which connector and since you have a RWD, it might be located different. HTH

p.s. Overhere the OEM manufactures sell the reverse lamp switch but not the neutral switch. I only could find that one @ Nissan.

Also, before suspecting the switch, be sure it can't be anything else. Maybe better to disconnect it's connector (not so easy to reach on the Nx2000) to see what your reverse lights will do.
