Just thought of something - I'll try a low setting on my cordless drill with the cable attached. if it runs nice, then I know it's the speed gear. Thanks for getting the juices flowing guys

Mine is an electronic speedo and it does this occasionally (or did before I put the new P11 trans in, so I assume it was the old speed sensor)

My speedo started doing this over the winter and I almost started a thread like this. It just kind of went away tho, so I guess I got lucky. It was weird, it really only did it when it was extremely cold.

Anyway, keep us posted as I'm curious about what your problem is.

Alright update time:

Put in the new speedometer cable, still didnt work. looked closer to the mechanical sensor, and saw that the bolt which mounts the sensor in was gone (as in...I forgot to put it back in when I did my VE swap) - The unit wasn't out of its housing, so it shouldn't have made a difference...but hey, I've seen stupider things happen. Went to my bolt bucket (from 3 dead partouts!) and found the correct bolt, popped it in, and badda bing! works. Go figure.

Cool! Glad you didn't have to fire-up the amber lamps. LOL!!
