weird shifter
I don't know how explain this very well, sorry for my english.
The shifter moves freely like it's in Neutral position when its in a gear (shift, speed).
This happened when I was shifting into speeds (neutral to first shift, first to second shift, 4th to 3rd ... ) without disengaging the clutch because my clutch forks broke.
I had to shift speeds like hulk.

my guess would be bushings and/or the mount under the car that the shifter rests on. also, i notice your snapon screw driver handle im rockin the new style with the rubber on it.

definitely check under the car where the shifter is you will see your problem right away.

I bet you $20 you're missing the spring in this picture:

Ben,

Are there two springs for the shifter? My return from left to center sucks, almost non-existent, however return from right to center is fine.

Cliff, no there is only one external spring just as you see in the image I posted. It is responsible for returning the shift lever to the 3-4 position from the 1-2 position only. Move the shift lever to 5-R and the spring goes slack. However, when moving the shift lever to the right into the 5-R position that action is resisted by internal mechanisms inside the transmission and realistically those never fail. (I've never paid enough attention while inside the transmission to see if it is a spring or what that causes the returning from 5-R to center.)

If you've read closely, you'll realize that your shift return spring is broken or missing, and your internal transmission components are working just fine.
