Resistor to trick the ecu?
Hey guys I have a code p1701. neutral position switch. I was wondering if I could install a resistor to trick the ecu into thinking the sensor still works. 300ZX guys do this all the time when they remove their egr systems. I do have a new sensor, I just don't have the time to change it out, of course this would be a temp fix. I'm just tired of looking at that damn ses light.

I don't really see how this sensor (on/off) can be tricked with a resistor.

It is intended so that the ECU knows your gear is in neutral, I dunno what it really does besides my idle rpm only will go down to 850 when the speed sensor is saying no velocity, I'm told it has to do with how much fuel is injected @ idle. I've got the new sensor, hoping to install it next week (after 6 months driving around with a dead one :o)

Overhere this sensor is only 30 euro @ Nissan and you need to swap it really fast/plug it with cloth or drain the tranny. Also, this sensor is pretty dead on a lot of Nissan's with age.
