Thread: Weird Problem ( Tranny)

I'll spin both my P11 and the SR16 while off the ground but I remember my old ones (B14 opposite & B15 same) spinning in the opposite directions. I think it's got something to do with the LSD not being engaged when you spin it. Those who wheels both spin in the same direction probably have a really heavy gear oil. That was the only difference I can remember between the B14 and B15 I had in my car. $.02

Interesting! I hadn't thought about the gear oil making a difference. Would make sense though because Jen's using shockproof heavy in the NX, and stock gear oil in the B13.

With a VLSD unit, there is no conclusive test other than a road test (which is at times inconclusive), that will give you a definitive answer.

This is because there is no load on either wheel to cause the necessary friction to heat up the viscous silicone in the viscous coupling to, in turn, turn both axles in the same direction.

You can always open it up and check. But you'd just be wasting your time, 9/10 times if it has a bulge it's an lsd trans.

I don't think he's debating the fact that he has LSD. I think he's trying to determine if the LSD is defective, or not.

i just put in prothanes...wahtfukcingpain in my ass....and both my wheels spin opposite in gear...and in first ger they LIGHT UP soooo easy now....best 55 bucks ever spent and well worth the bull**** putting them in.

I think that pretty much sums it up. I've had an LSD go bad on me and you KNOW for certain when it's going/about to go. It's unmistakable/undeniable ear piercing sound, followed by loss of movement. I drove my broken diff around for a day before it gave up.

Some symptoms:

-Loud whirling sound
-Tires always locked up (as if it has a welded diff) around corners which got annoying
-Whine at acceleration/decel.
-Sluggish
-No movement despite the gear

Well I know for a fact that non-LSD transmissions turn opposite directions. At least mine does.

my lsd one turns opposite but I know its lsd because I do burnouts to test it

I dont know what the hell is going on everyone has had diff things happen to them. All i know is that from every LSD tranny i have ever come across both tires would spin foward and open dif one wheel would spin the oposite way. And for some reason i swear i remember both my tires spinning on the sentra before or my mind is playing tricks. And i know for a fact that on my NX both wheels spin foward cause i was making fun of tekkie for having open diff lol.. like i mentioned before i have herd storys of LSD going out. Plus Rob had his go out last year and he called me up telling me about it. Im not having any of them problems. Weird
