Thread: Mahle Forged Pistons anybody?

(Link below) This looks like a pretty decent deal... has anybody heard about these pistons? They don't look bad at all for the price. they'll be going in my DET if I decide to go with them. Let's hear some feedback

whats your goals power wise?

I always run Mahle pistons in my aircooled VW engines! Ive never had a problem out of them, but im not running any boost.

Nate (wnwright) used Mahle pistons in his VET build IIRC. Had nothing but good things to say about them.

They are a very reputable company. They have been around for a long time and know what they are doing for sure. Never used them on an SR though. I would not hesitate at all.

awesome, I was hoping for some positive results.

I'm thinking I'm good for like 250hp with my setup. I just recently blew out the seal on one of my stock pistons when I bumped up the boost. probably cuz the stock injectors couldn't handle it. I'll get that all worked out. I'd just like for that to not happen again, you know? Its a real pain in the a** when that happens.

you dont need forged internals for that but I guess its good to upgrade.

I figure since I've got it opened up why not? plus I'll have peace of mind haha

Waste of money for 250hp unless you are eventually planning to upgrade in the future.

They are however very reputable and I would use them anytime.

yeah - I was saying with the setup I have at the moment, I'm probably around 250hp... no question I'll be wanting to upgrade more a little later.
