fuse question/wire repair
Does anyone know what the underhood "Engine Cont" fuses are for? I popped the cover today removing fuses that weren't needed for my build and noticed that one of the 7.5 "Engine Cont" fuses was missing. It's the one that the screwdriver is pointing to in the pic just above the 10a "tail."

Any ideas how to fix wires that are split right next to their connectors...for example...

I think this one I can get some shrink tubing on possibly, as for the one above I'm at a loss.

7.5A engine control fuse, not sure of the diagram exactly, but if you blow it, don't expect the car to start. It'll crank forever and that's about it...

Experienced just what I typed, first hand. I don't even know what blows the fuse.

Secondly, if you want to do it right, you should use a pin extraction tool to remove each wire from the harness connector, and solder/crimp new pins and insert them back into the connector. Option 2 is using a glue gun? I wouldn't hesitate to use a glue gun to seal in the wire as it sits, and then tape over the harness... Another alternative is looking for another (better) harness, or a harness that has those particular connectors in better condition, and cutting/splicing them into your existing harness.

Tekkie pulls through again...why didn't I think of hot glue to seal it?? I would rather fix it right though where can I get one of these pin extracting tools??

There are two engine control fuses though, the bottom one was missing but the car ran.

Well, the only thing I'm not 100% sure of, is they type or style of the connectors used on our particular car. I have one of these simliar kits at work, though:
New Pro's Kit CE-0275 Pin Extractor Set Molex Tyco Amp - eBay (item 260532507704 end time Feb-02-10 10:45:48 PST)

If I were you, I'd determine what types of connectors the car has, and search for a pin insertion/extraction tool for those particular connectors. They can be had for as cheap as $5 a piece depending on where you look

Do you have a picture, brand or even a partnumber or just any info on this tool? I would like to afford that one!

Those look simple as hell though, is it really that easy?

I was able to de-pin most of my connectors without any tool. Where the wires go into the connector you have a little rubber insulator, if you pull the pins you should be able to heat shrink the wires where they are broke and re-assemble the connector.

The tool, however, is BY FAR easier to use on stubborn connectors.

Here's a PDF from a place we tend to order from at work.
http://www.farmtronics.com/PDF-F/Crimping_Tools.pdf

I'd recommend the Metri-Pack extraction tool, and the weather-pack extraction tool at a minimum. The crimping tools are nice if you want the job to be perfect, but they're not really a requirement.

I have access to all crimpers located in that PDF, and they all come in handy for our techs in the field.
