Clutch Cable Length?
So I installed a new clutch cable on my car. First off it was a major pain in the ass to even get on.

It was said that these 1.6 cables are shorter and give more adjustment. I don't quite understand that. I thought the clutch arm was suppose to have some play in it when the cable was on the arm and that was the adjustment? Or the TOB would constantly be riding the PP if it was tight. I don't know much about drivetrain, that's why I'm posting this.

I had a terrible screeching sound before I installed my new tranny because I thought the TOB was shot due to it riding the PP constantly as I didn't adjust it correctly.

This new cable has no room for it to give adjustment if the play is suppose to be the adjustment. I don't want my TOB to start this noise again as my car is finally quiet after 3 months of it.

The 1.6 cables adjustment screw is almost all the way out and kinda sketchy to think if it would back off and fall off. It's very stiff to try to tighten.

Is this how the 1.6l cable is suppose to fit on? Just seems weird to me after what I've heard about the adjustment. Any input is appreciated.

My Clutch cable install

Essentially the reason the 1.6 cable has more adjustment, is because it has a longer covering that goes over the cable. Thus the cable is the same length, just has more tube to go through. What this means is, since the cable is shorter, when it stretches, you can adjust it more.

I had the same problem with my cable. I was afraid of it ridding on the pressure plate. But I think after some driving it should be fine, after the cable stretches.

i had this problem also, but just so anyone knows, if you loosen the bracket that holds the clutch cable near the trans arm so the bolts dont come out but it can flop around, that makes it easier to get it into the bracket and on the arm, then all you gotta do is tighten the bolts that hold the bracket to the trans.

Good idea, now wouldn't we have to worry about possibly cross threading?

Ok, I just did the GA cable swap using nissan 30770-62Y1A. It was tough gettting the straight cable to curve around but all said and done it seems to be worth it.

My question is about the adjusting. When the GA is in, how much thread should be sticking out, after the adj nut? Im assuming not much and that makes the cable as long as possible. Then as Vadim said it will stretch after a short time and then your left with years of adj room assuming it doesnt break LOL. Am I understanding this correct?

It will be perfect after it stretches a little.
If you have a stronger PP than stock,it won't take long.

true, although it doesn't stretch a whole bunch at least my new B14 cable didn't.

greg accidently sent me one of them ga cables once, an man after like an hour of fighting it i finally got it on.. but when i tryed to drive it was like i had the clutch pedel pushed half way in or something.. so returned it an got the sr20 one but now its fully adjusted as far as i can go on the threads but theres still some play in the clutch arm that comes out of the tranny.. i hear the miko tranny bracket fixes this issue.. but once again im poor right now so im burnt.. thinkin some over sized washers where the rubber part of the cable goes through the bracket might give me the extra room im lookin for..

So there should be only a little thread showing after the adj wheel. That makes the cable as long as possible yes?

And I have no idea what PP is installed. I bought the car months back and the clutch was stiff as hell! The bulky left leg clutch syndrome LOL It got lighter and I had to adj the cable a couple times. Then no adj left so new cable. I hope this solves the problem!
