I deal with auto parts everyday. Hundreds of them. I can tell a crappy design when i see one. I don't have to see it in person. That flywheel is downright SCARY.
I've been sent utter CRAP from them. Enough is enough from JGY.

And Jensen and Joel both started laughing. I wasn't really attempting to be serious, but Joel admitted that it was and I told them both that I hoped they had learned their lessons (remember, Jensen had a bad clutch disc from JGY, inferior disc design, that just went out on him a few weeks prior to Joel's flywheel giving out)
Bottom line: The flywheel is of SHITTY design. The surface of the teeth is so thin, I'm surprised the starter didn't devour it much sooner! The whole flywheel looks as if it were stock, and they simply used a drill press to take chunks out of it. Nothing about that flywheel looked CNC'd or heat treated after surgery.
Anyhow, at least he got himself a MUCH nicer replacement Competition Clutch makes a REALLY nice looking steel flywheel, that doesn't weigh much more than a Fidanza aluminum. And I'd trust the steel ANY day over an aluminum one.
Yes i'm running a competition clutch and flywheel. The flywheel is very nice for the price. I think it was something like $350 for both? I weighed the flywheel to be around 9.5lbs. Light enough for me.
looks like it was not annealed correctly.
but solutions easy, park facing downhill outside your house and bump it. Worked for months with my MkII jag.
Then dont turn it off, like a diesel...
