So you said that the motor had rod knock? If so you need to check the crank to make sure it isnt trashed. Also, measure the clearances before you order the kit. Dont just get the thicker bearings "just in case". No bueno

ya it had rod knock, rod #2 i have checked the crank an it looks just fine.. how would i go about checking the clearances Before i order the bearings? i know how to use plastigauge with the new bearings, would i just do the same basic thing but with the old bearings?

this engine was not drivin with rod knock for more then a few miles, as soon as it started i babyed it home an didnt drive it any more

An engine with rod knock what would the journals look like would they have a copper tone instead of a silver appearance?

one way to tell if your rods an caps are toast is when you take the cap off, if it doesnt go back on smoothly its probobly ovaled which is not a good thing..
