Nissan Primera GT P11 manual trans
Trying to get some info please: Is the Nissan Primera GT P11's, the JDM version of the G20t, manual transmission a good one to have. Is this the same as the famous 00 - 02 P11 G20t or B15 SE manual transmission that is hard to break?

You can see what it is supposed to look like here
HOW TO: P11/B15 transmission swap into a B13/B14/P10 - SR20 Forum

The transmission in that write up is a RS5F70V. I don't know if the Primera also got the LSD transmission. What really gives it away is the black cover that is on the front of the transmission. You can see it in the pictures. That's how you know you have the stronger transmission. Over here in the states the 99 P11's received a weaker RS5F32V.

The non lsd version of the stronger box is a RS5F70A. You can tell between lsd and non lsd by the hump on the left side axle. Also the LSD transmission has different diameter oil seals. There is a Nismo LSD available for the NON lsd box, part# 38420-RS360. They are still available but you would probably have to source it from Japan or maybe Australia.

In order to use the non-lsd unit you would have to source a non lsd left side axle if your car is originally equipped with an lsd transmission.

So can you say if the RS5F70V is the trans that comes in the Primera GT? the trans in it is a LSD trans.

I can't say for Certain that JDM P11 Primera GT's had the RS5F70V. Somebody could probably determine that using Nissan Fast.

This is what I could determine. The RS5F70A gear case was in use in european right hand drive p11's starting from June 1999 till the end of P11 production.

Now with this information I'm assuming that for the same time period LSD P11's were also running the RS5F70 gearbox. You really have to get a visual on whatever transmission your looking at. The pictures shown on Nissan4u clearly illustrate the removable cover at the front of the transmission. That front cover tells you your working with a RS5F70 gear box.
