Btw. anybody know where to get VDO gauges with °C and Bar? I can find only °F and psi. Thanks

Did you look at the VDO website?
VDO - We are a leading international supplier of automotive electronics & mechatronics.

They have dedicated pages for several EU nations, although I didn't see that any of them have those types of gauges. Check their dealer network in Europe, you might be able to find something in a neighboring country that wouldn't have wicked shipping charges.

Using that piggy-back fuse thingie, I now have power to the gauges. I have a question about the water temp sensor. I picked up the coolant piece that Chriscar tapped the sensor into from a junkyard and now have the sensor installed. I'm wondering if I will need to drain the coolant from the system to swap out those pieces, or if, since it is high in the system, I can just take it off, catch the spillage, and then refill the system as needed once it is installed again?
