Mechanical timing - correct?
Checking mechanical timing, while installing new UR crank pulley.
I'm pretty sure this is correct.
Looks good?

all the pics look right except the one of the dizzy, the rotor is supposed to be pointing at cylinder 1 but im not sure where that is on a highport without looking. it points up on a lowport i know that

This is a 94 lowport.
Distributor rotor in the pic is making contact for cylinder #1 plug wire,
I did check that, forgot to mention it.
Thank you!

Installing a crank pulley would have no affect on cam timing. It does look correct as long as the needle is directly above the second notch of the pulley, cant tell from the picture but it doesnt look like it.

No, it doesnt have to line up with the colored links. You will have to turn the motor over like 80 times for the colored links to line up.

yeah looks fine, 20 pins between dots, 10 and 12 oclock on the cam pins, crank at tdc.

Looks fine. Put the tensioner in if its not already and when you first turn it over do it by hand to release the tensioner, just make sure you hear the click or look down if you still have the valve cover off and make sure it released.

There are several different versions of the UR crank pulley, and they have different timing marks. It's a good idea to use a timing light to set your ignition timing to 15* BTDC with the OEM pulley in place, then swap the UR one in and check it again so that you can calibrate between the 2 pulleys. Take notes for future reference. Otherwise it's really hard to be be certain about where your timing is really set.

Also - with the smaller diameter pulley, the distance between the pointer and the pulley is bigger, so it's doubly important that you look straight down onto the pointer. It makes a big difference if you move your head around.

Something to think about.
