changing head gaset
i was just wondering how hard it was. i did head gaskets on belts before but not chain. and tips ? also my car wont start without me giving it gas, and when i do it sounds like subaru and ALOT of white smoke out of it which i think its the head gasket, but why wont it idle?

well start with a compression test see whatnumbers you get, check your oil for coolant and coolant for oil.

just becuase your turbo doesnt have shaft play doest mean the seals arent or cant be blown.

i would do a few tests to insure its the headgasket

there's also a test to see if there's exhaust gas in your coolant. that's what Toyota recommended, and yes they has a few headgasket issues

a compression test does little to nothing on diagnosing a head gasket. a cyl leak down test will however help ALOT.

well it give you a good idea of the compression you are getting in each cylinder and kinda does eliminate A HUGE headgasket problem... but you are right a cylinder test will help
