Unlucky Week
Apparently bad things happen to my car in pairs. Earlier this week I hit a deer. Physical damage, w/e.

Today on the way home from work, rpms start jumping during basic acceleration. Me thinks no way its the clutch slipping, not old clutch not factory clutch and i definitely dont beat on it. So i keep driving.

I start hearing metal like screetching noises from the transmission and i can no longer accelerate. I can move the car slightly if i feather the clutch in and out while i give it a little gas enough to baby it home.

This happens in all gears. I just jacked it up in the garage and there is gear oil leaking out of the drivers side axle connection with the transmission. Not enough to have drained the transmission but enough to bother me.

Possibilities? I assume im going to drop the tranny regardless of the cause but I would like to have some sort of idea on what to look for.

As always thanks for any help.

PS- Installed JGY flywheel about a month ago.

That sucks bro, wish you better luck in the future.

Did you replace the axle seals? Those can be tricky, technically I would replace them every time you remove your axles to be safe.

Yea I didnt think about doing them everytime, as cheap as they are probably is a good idea. They were replaced when i replaced the axle about a year ago. The axles were only removed once since then. Possible the axle slipped out?

Sound like a wasted tranny?

Im hoping when i drop it the pressure plate came loose somehow and me partially disengaging the clutch is pushing it back into place and thats why i could ease it home lol

check all of the exterior components first before taking if off. Even when my brother blew up his trans no fluid was leaking and the only time it really would do that would be if it cracked or something isnt sealing correctly

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly do you mean by exterior components that could be relative to my symptoms?

axles would be the first one I would think. its hard to say but when i did trans swap a lot of the fluid would come out of the axle seals so you might of lost a lot

Whelp today is the low point in my nissan owning. The JGY flywheel has a thicker mounting flange than the stock flywheel. I used the stock bolts without checking the needed length. Needless to say the stock bolts ripped out the last 3 threads and my flywheel came off while driving. Luckily there is pretty much no damage except the threads and since so few were damaged im going to tap it out and I already picked up longer bolts and should be back in business tomorrow.

(slaps self in the face really really hard)

Agreed unless you installed some kind of spacer...

No spacer, stock flywheel bolts straight from the DE. I measured the thickness of the jgy and the stock one, there is significant difference. Not sure why.

I could probably mill it off and shave off a little bit more weight lol.
