door switch question

Do our cars use a positive switching dome light circuit or a negative one?

The12volt.com says red/white (-) so I'm assuming that I need to use the negatve wire on my remote start module correct?

It is negative, with the door open the red/white goes to ground.

Yes, when the door is open it reads 12v. Had the wonderful idea to actually use my Multimeter after I posted this
