I doubt that is knock. Why not try pulling the valvecovor and checking every valve? It would take 20minutes on and off. The sound is too rapid to me, it definitely sounds like something in the valve train. Possibly fixable.

Anyone agree? Why go with a completely new motor when checking it out might be allot cheaper and easier in the long run...

HI I FINNALLY SAW THE VIDEO

NOT KNOCK...

could be lifters, or water pump bearing goin bad,or tensioner on chain all these things can be tested before replacing.

i'm down for cheapest way. Vc was off two days ago, noticed that exhaust camshaft was significantly scratched on cylinder 4 lobe. No shims are missing. Everything seems to be tight. Released pressure off each valve to see if maybe they forgot to tighten and they all seemed fine. Minimal play

I'm going out on a limb here and say the top end was run starved of oil and it's many now shot rotating or moving pieces with that weird squealing, pop the cover and at least do a visual on the cams and lifters. It does seem more up top and rod knock doesn't explain the bizzare gurlging/squealing noise, that's just funky strange...

+1 on the tensioner, I've heard people swear they had rod knock and turns out to be tensioner is shot.

But I stick with a hosed top end, valves, lifters, it's messed up.

the exhaust cam has some significant scratches on the #4 cylinder. It wouldnt make that sound but its there.
due to the major leak, your diagnosis can be true about oil starvation.
if thats the case, could i head to the junker, grab head parts(cams valves ect) outta a g20 and call it a day?
