It plugs into the stock airbox on lowport engines. I have a wai so it plugs into the top of my filter, and recently I just broke the wires off so I grabbed one at the junkyard. I dont think it does much, and some people just leave it hanging in the engine after installing an aftermarket intake.

if you dont have it in the intake iself, the car seems to bog down just a tad at really low rpms. otherwise it seems useless but i remember vadim having a quest for more mpgs and thoughts of moving it to obain more as the jeep guys do it and it helps.

i currently have it stuck in my filter.

some of th main purposes other than monitoring air temps is to retard the timing and increase fuel i believe if the air temps get too hot.

pages EC 98 through EC 102 in the FSM deal with this sensor. it is NOT used in the engine control system, but for on-board diagnostics only (news to me:o )
do you have a 0110 fault code? the pages above tell you how to test the sensor with a dmm. pretty simple stuff. good luck.

The fsm states specifically that the air temp sensor is not used for engine control. I noticed zero difference leaving it hanging in the engine bay when I switched to a wai.
