I can imagine it being raised while sitting still would vent out the heat some, especially if the fans are on.

Because a car will create great heat when sitting still?

Not to mention you are venting hot, fumy air straight into your duct for the heater / aircon. Mmmmmm nothing like fumes in the cabin to lighten the head.

it does when your sitting in the lanes at a drag strip.

which is why im going to look into a junk hood to cut nostrils in so i dont have to take my hood off at the strip.

Regardless if I raise my hood or not I get fumy air through the heater/aircon. Recirculation helps lol. And the way I see it the air that isn't escaping under the car at the firewall might as well go over the top of the firewall.

It makes it look like someone did a crappy install on the hood / just not the right one...
I know it's efficient, if your driving in reverse, but looks retarded imo

^ this is true but it has been proven that it does serve a functional purpose, so to each their own, if you dont like it, dont do it.

Whats to argue about? Magazines have already tested it and proved that it lowers temps in all conditions whether moving or not.

I must say that the forum has gone down hill when there are 5 pages of posts to talk about adding washers to your hood to vent air. This is ridiculous. It lets air out, all said and done. If you want to, do it, if you like looks, don't do it. Why are you all talking about this so much?

well i more or less think people are more or less torn on weather or not it actually works, despite the fact the legit magazines have proven that it does work even if its a little bit still its displacing the air and thats all that really matters.

its all good and fun though. i like the way the topic has more or less strayed from the washers into the DIY hood scoops and vents, there are alot of other good ways to vent air that this topic has brought on. i think that is a plus lets people whom are interested in the washers also see there are better legit ways to vent air.
