H swaps are what started this, btw. Just letting you know.

I stand by my convictions, it's a cheap mod and works wonders to keep engine bay temps in check.

uh what? h swaps clear the hood even on eg's by miles

theres no way in hell the intake manifold would be anywhere near the hood unless it was a H2B swap

from what i hear, this could benefit the NX more than any thing, to my knowledge they have the poorest design in engine bay cooling...who am i to say though im NA

Having prothanes all on mounts causes my hood to rattle. I think im going to put a thin rubber spacer to quiet the rattling noise. Sometimes it drives me crazy.

H swaps clear the hood if they are using the correct aftermarket mounts. Alot of different brand mounts place the motor in undesirable locations. Some are too high, too far to the left, right, and so on. Btw, a h22 swap with bolt ons in a stripped eg is like a k20 setup, but cheaper and just as fast(er).

1st of all, i wasnt talking directly to you about being n/a. Im saying it in general. So ur saying a turbo car will run the same temp, if not cooler then n/a during idle or crusing? The purpose of this mod is to "ONLY" reduce under hood temps (heatsoak) and vent the hot air out as theres no real cooling relief on a b14 atleast. It works "ESPECIALLY" well on boosted cars where under hood temps are alot hotter then n/a. I see no reason why n/a ppl should do this mod as factory cooling will suffice and n/a creates nowhere the amount of heat as a boosted car will. I see this mod only good for the boosted community where it does help and serves a purpose. If you ppl watching racing, you'll notice alot of the scca touring and gt teams use this same method. It be one thing to do this for no reason but if it has given me results as it has, im all for it. dropping -10deg at no cost isnt something to complain about. Each to their own, some will like it and use it and some wont and complain.

Peace

Wanna bet? His IM hit the hood BEFORE his H2B conversion.

like i said, the intake manifold would only be near the hood if it was a H2B swap, especially in a EG

my old h22a eg is on the left in this pic, b series eg on the right, u can see the oil pan and trans hanging underneath my old eg on the left

on another note i have recently been doing some fuel tuning at idle with my aem, and normally my engine bay heats up a bit with the car just stagnent at idle, and after my tuning i felt around on the top of the hood and in the engine bay and it was WAY cooler than normally, so i am happy with it thus far, i havent had any drawbacks from it

heres another h22 swap i did but into a del sol, u can see the miles of room with the intake mani, the valve cover is a WAY closer fit than the intake mani, but still clears oem hoods
