When I used to daily drive my B13 with the stock avenir motor swap and stock everything besides the 3" turbo back exhaust I did this with severe skepticism only to find out that it actually worked. My case might be unique but it did wonders for my turbo car.

Personally I would rather find some old skool 300ZX hood vents and cut my hood before I would do something ricer like this. I mean.... yea great.... it WORKS!

BUT.... it looks gay. There is a reason why there are hood vents in production.

i think our b13 has had the hood washered up like this for ohhhhhh 7+ years now lol

it makes a huge difference, especially if you use foam to seal the upper core support against the hood

hood scoops or vents are not going to run you less than 5.00 and take 5 mins to install though, i really feel this is all about function and definitly not form, there are alot of guys in this scene that are completely anal about form and thats all fine. but for those who arent and are running applications that generate a good ammount of heat the mod might be for you, and i mean really it doesnt cost anything takes no effort to install and you can uninstall it if you dont like it.

its mearly a simple way to create somewhat of a cowl effect to expell the heat from the engine bay no more and no less

personally i dont really see the big deal of having the hood proped up in the back where as people say it offsets the lines of the car i dont really care verses having my engine expell some of that excess heat at idle. the clearence for my turbo radiator manifold and downpipe are all really tight which genereates alot of heat in a small close quarters, so for this to expell some of the heat that the turbo is creating, i dont mind. thats just me

I might try to hood propping and see how it does.

Ultimately I would rather do something like this: S2KI - S2000 Forums -> DIY: Vented Aluminum Hood

Yeah, hood vents are great except they're even ricier than propping the hood up in the rear.

I'm sorry, but my car's no SHOW car, but it damn sure isn't a rice fest. Adding hood scoops only puts me there in the ricer world. I'd much rather have the hood raised to expel the heat from a 30r motor. You can't even touch my valvecover after a session, it's so damn hot in the engine bay. Hell not even the COLD side piping is cool enough to touch.

Well, you don't necessarily need a hood scoop. You could probably just take the hood off and work it with some body tools to reshape the rear edge. You could create a similar gap, while maintaining the hood/fender line on the sides.

I was actually thinking of something similar.

Basically bend the hood on the sides to match the fender lines after the hood spacers. The only issue with that is, that is a permanent damage to the hood, while the spacers are removable.

My hood is dented, especially after the crackhead jumped on it, so I fairly don't care what I do with it, so cutting or spacing, what ever helps

agreed, hood scoops and vents arent really to my appeal, the bad thing about the honda scene is they take a ACTUAL effective modification and usei t on like stock d15b1 engines that really have no use for the modification in itsself, and then the modification takes on a ''ricer'' name where as in reality it does have a good effect that may not appeal to those who dont see the use for the mod or have the need for the mod, or like clean lines, but for us who have a heavily modded engine that generates a **** ton of heat while just crisuing its for us.
