Thread: Resurface or reuse PP?

Can a guy resurface or reuse a pressure plate? Just looking to save a bit of money on my ve swap and I found a guy with a brand new exedy oem clutch pad.

Sure, why not? When you resurface, you're really just using a wheel to clean up the contact surface if there's any glazing on it. You can't exactly turn it like you would a brake rotor.

do they go bad, or lose their...working-ness?

i cookie wheeled the one on my friends 200sx and it worked out fine

There comes a point in the PP's life where there's just not much material left (hardly ever the case), or you can't remove the glazing with the cookie wheel (like I use), or when the clamping fingers are weak or broken off.

Yes. OEM clutch is fine for a bolt on VE.

good to know, i just put an oem KVC(exedy in nissan box) clutch in my car 1500 miles ago... i was debating whether or not id need to switch it out for something like a compclutch stg2 in the spring

i personally would just go ahead and buya new pp i wouldnt use old parts on things that require alot of work to replace if those old parts with already wear on them decide to go. plus its a added piece of mind know your clutch of all things is good but thats just me
