Getting Brake Rotors Off
Hey All,

So this is a n00b question I know. I got the calipers off and am having a hard time getting the rotors off. I didn't realize they'd be on this hard.

I need to know how I should hit them with the hammer? I don't want to bend the threads the wheels go onto. I've been hitting them from behind where the dust shield separates with no luck. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks!

There should be two threaded holes in the. Find bolts that fit and use them to back the rotors off.

I do the same thing with stuck rotors. Just use a rubber mallet and hit the rotors on the face to break them free from the wheel studs. Sometimes the rust from the brake dust and wheel studs accumulates and makes it pretty difficult to remove. You could use some PB Blaster or WD40, too.

id use wd40 regardless. if their stuck its good insurance also re thread 2 of the lugs back on there just a bit so that when it does break free it doesnt nail your foot

If you pry on them from one side and give a gentle hit on the other they usually pop off pretty easily.
