you could do this with a ford maf sensor. The housing MUST be the same size as the pipe you are putting the sensor in, otherwise you will need a new tune. Maf placement must be centered as well.
I'm not sure about the SR mafs. I don't think they will work that way very easily. The Ford mafs are all ready for disassembly.
