first off let me say that I am not a native and use some terms that are alien.
yes the radiator is made up of the core that has the tubes and fins.
At either end is a header tank.
the extent of my experience is with Auto V8 tow vehicles that I added transmission coolers to..
These had the two connections into one header tank and went from one connection to the other with some sort of connection, I was told this was basically just a metal tube in the coolant in one header tank. The new cooler had a temp thermostat to stop over cooling and was connected up without the radiator connections.
So now you know as much as me, and if you call this tank a header tank and you get strange looks so be it
If you want to confuse people even more I can teach you wing, boot, bonnet, big ends, door sill etc

We just call them end tanks.

OK so let's see if I understand this correctly.

Tranny fluid comes in one of the nozzles, goes through some sort of pipe that's WITHIN the bottom 'end tank' which is surrounded by coolant fluid. This then goes out the other nozzle back towards the auto tranny? So the tranny cooling system bypasses all cores and has its own separate route inside the bottom end tank and the tranny lines never go to the top end tank, they stay in the bottom one (because that's where I saw the two nozzles for it).

Do I got it right?(and more importantly, do I get the gold star by my name?)
