I remember Kojima recommending it. If we could get some of his old info or maybe he can shed some light as to why he thinks the heavy is worth the purchase price to put in our transmissions.

i run the mt90 "not shockproof" it seems like some good stuff, granted i dont have a turbo setup.. but it shifts alot better then some of the other stuff i've tried.. i've done some research an never really seen any bad things..

to be honest, ive seen people destroy trannies using the red slushy and what not, ive always run 80w90 or what im using now , pennzoil synchromesh, alotta the honda guys(from what ive heard ) run this as its almost like a "medicine" for trannies that grind .. proof being that a friend bought a 240sx and the trans would grind 3rd and fifth, when we put the SM in there it seemed to grind a helluva lot less...the harsh winters in michigan agree with me as well since driving in 0 deg weather with standard or heavy weight gear oil is a PITA , especially if you just want to get up and drive, double clutching is a must

keynote ive never EVER had a problem with SM, my last trans ran it til i pulled it off the car to replace the clutch, and i only replaced that trans due to fifth gear popout, but it had t hat when i bought the car

edit: theres a guy around here with a turbo se-r that runs it autox and he runs standard 80w90 murrays gl-5

we're suppose to run gl4, i did alot of searchin an found gl4 to be highly reccomened.. when i had gl5 in my car my lsd would chatter an i thought my tranny was gonna blow, thank god i only put 5 miles on it with that crap, changed to redline mt90 an problem went away an works great now

yeah i knwo, gl 5 has sulphur in it which iirc eats our brass synchros, this is why i ran synchromesh instead...but tell me thats not some great luck! ****ty gear lube on a boosted 10psi autox slut and the original b14 tranny stlll kickin?

Just to be the odd one out, I'll mention that I use the heavy shockproof in mine, and have never had any trouble whatsoever. It's not a turbo car, but still damn quick at the drag strip and made a TON of passes with no problems.

I've run heavy shockproof in my p10 trans pretty much ever since I turboed it almost 60K ago. Wasn't putting down a huge amount of power with the T28 but was putting down 340WHP with the GT28RS and never had any issues.! I think it is the driver...

It's funny how Mike has to tell dudes to read the article and basically stop asking stupid questions. Hahahah. Ben good post. That info did help to highlight why shockproof would be a good thing to have in your transmission.
