I finally got around to pulling the ol' sr20 apart, and this is what I found...



My head removal tool...





One of the nastiest heads i've seen...









Rod didn't bust through the block but it did just happen to hit on one of the coolant passages...off to the scrap yard it goes.

I think your engine beats mine. I'll have to tare mine down and see what it looks like inside

covert i thought of you when i saw that. damn that is messed up lol both those engines lol at least yours was savable

Haha. Was is... its still running but I guess it can spin a bearing in the near future..

not to be offtopic..bur covert ,did you remove you timing chain tensioner?and did you have any sideaffects?

I would only do a full engine swap. Don't have time to waste on rebuilding this one hehe.

I have a 99 motor, so it doesn't have a chain guide. I had to replace my tensioner because mine crapped out. New chain tensioner was for G20, which is similar to the 99.

nah i'll hold onto the head, once i get the crank and all out i'll post some pics of the inside of the block where it broke into that coolant passage. and I've already got a u13 in the car so this was just for fun i guess you could say. Want to find out more about these lowport heads though.

its hard to find uot alot about the differences in heads without getting mainly opinios on the heads, i have found little about the de and det heads, lowport vs highport ect.
