phuck, the red car will not start
For the record, VQ35DE engine with AEM standalone. Looking for some ideas.
The car has run for almost 2 years great, never a real issue. I was coming home last night, came up on a long empty straight and decided to open it up to, say for example, triple digits, top of 3rd. Then, for some added fun, I slowed down rather quickly (just brakes, not engine, clutch was in). I looked down and the engine had stalled during slow down. I made sure all the electronics were on and popped the clutch in 2nd or 3rd, I read some RPMs on the dash, but the engine didn't kick over. Reset all of my electronics/ECU, tried to pop the clutch again, same thing, RPMS read, but the engine wouldn't hold its own, nothing happened when I pressed the gas.
I also tried clutch in and start with the key, just cranking, no starting. Alternator was running fine at 14-14.5V, new battery. Engine cranks fine, but no start, every so often, I get a LOUD backfire when starting, which is actually somewhat normal on my setup, I have header to resonator to dump.
I pulled out the plugs to check them out. I only pulled 2 plugs so far, will pull the rest later. They were a tad bit loose for my taste, but they looked fine, but old. They look average worn:
I put the boot on, grounded the plug. I am getting a spark, but it looks very weak. Keep in mind, I have individual coil packs. I'm getting +/-12V to the coil and a negative trigger signal. I run a wasted spark, 3 drivers, 6 cylinders, I can't tell if I'm getting both because the spark looks kinda weak. I still think the engine could start on this spark.
I could smell gasoline in the 2 cylinders and a poof of air when I crank. Once I get the I.M. Off I'm going to replace all the plugs and check the compression. What else should I check while I'm at it?
I checked the AEM EMS software on my laptop, I don't know it that well, but I am reading about 150RPM when I crank, the injector signals look fine according to the software, but I didn't do a data analysis.
