1996 dizzy (b14)
So I called advance to check on a rotor cap and button and they asked me when the car was made because there are two different buttons. My question is...are the distributors the same as far as functioning correctly? There are two different buttons and i'm wondering if the dizzy's are the same. I'm thinking this may be what's wrong with my car, i'm only getting intermittent spark and sometimes none.

Dre, that's not the only point.

When I specifically told the auto parts store which MOTOR I had (SR20DE, lowport which was 95~98 200sx SE-R), they still asked me which rotor I wanted. I scratched my head because I was SURE that there was only one rotor. Apparently they have the catalogue screwed up at the auto parts store, or there's a secret rotor button hanging out (or maybe there's an interchangeable rotor button?).

Anyhow, I finally just asked them to produce both and looked at them to determine which one I needed.

For clarification: Both rotor buttons were from the same manufacturer, as well, but had two different part numbers, and were listed for a 95~98 200sx SE-R with 2L motor, Manual tranny...

well i tested my dizzy to see if the cap and button were even worth changing and I'm glad i did...i would have wasted my money. My primary coil resistance is 0.00 and it's supposed to be 0.5-1.00. So a new dizzy it is, think i better go new this time since that one was purchased off of a forum member.
