Thread: best way to store an engine??

if this is a dumb question, just tell me it is. ok so I have a low mileage engine that i would like to put away until the time comes when I would need. my question is what is the best way to do this. Can I just drain fluids, cover it, and just let it sit for what ever amount of time? is that ok? same for tranny?

Fill it up with fresh oil, if you drain it the seals will dry out.

so if i plan to have it sit, drain oil and fill it up with fresh oils and it should be ok ?

pull out the spark plugs and put a tiny bit of oil in the cyl walls (emphasis on TINY)
wrap the bugger in shrinkwrap, pallet it.
