Okay... Some small issues...
I've been trying to figure out a few things for the past few days to get a car running and thought I was victorious - It kicked over!!!!!! but alas. I suck... I'm trying to sort out the small stuff before I get ready to swap... I'm not good at electrical stuff... and need a little insight.

Question 1:
What would drain a battery in one day while its sitting parked w/ the engine off? Car will now start, the batteries are both good, I've tried this twice... come back in the morning to test and the **** is dead. Low voltage. I found out a little bit of antifreeze is dripping on the alternator while its running yesterday and I have a feeling it might be causing the problem, but could that affect the battery while it while its not running?

Question 2:
What would cause the cluster and turn signals to not function (as in no speedo, no tach, no gas, no temp), but yet allow it to illuminate? I can still use the hazards... but no turn signals?

I'm going to charge another battery, and try and see if I can find a wiring diagram for an nx. Does anyone have one...

Question 3:
Can no compression cause a cylinder to not fire if its getting spark and fuel? Maybe I will try and switch out the ecu? Switched over coil, ignitor, distributor, cap, wires, spark plugs, fuel filter, and fp gauge says I'm getting good pressure, and plugs get a little wet upon crank up. plug 1,2, & 4 are fine but 3 looks as though its still brand new, no soot, never been burned.

If you have any good insight, or first hand info, or suggestions please share cause I'm all ears... no reiterated stuff that you've never tried or read somewhere please.

Ameen

Edit: Thanks Guys!

Ameen, for the gauge cluster etc, take a look at the fusible link on the positive battery terminal. I had a similar problem years ago with my B13 and found that that link was toast.

q1: could be bad alternator. take it out to have it tested.

q2: check the fusible link like kent said, also check the big fuses in the engine bay too

q3: could be a bad fuel injector. if you have a spare, swap it out.

good luck with it.

Bad battery/chassis ground.

Fusible link/relay? Do you not have the FSM for the NX? You still have access to the contributors area, don't you?

EDIT: Damnit it didn't take my response to #3!

Anyhow, sounds to me like chamber compression issue in #3. Have you done a compression test? Other than air and fuel, you need spark and compression.

Hope that helped some? I'm not all there in the head right now, though, so I could be way off base.

I appreciate it a lot fellas... its always good to have another point of view - I don't know all that much and have been questioning myself. It all helps a ton. I'll see if I can apply this stuff and get back to you after I try it out. I'm gonna head to the zone and get some terminal cleaners and some wire brush.

Hell yes, I will have to look into that... maybe swap one from the junkyard. Do those have a peek hole to check the link?

Does anyone have the plastic cap to their fusible links laying around? I'm not sure which one is which, hopefully its in the fsm.

I have an alternator tester here... I'll test it as soon as I can. Thankfully I have a couple extras to swap over during the swap. Injectors, Brent gave me a few good ones, I'll swap it this afternoon.

I'll see if I can locate the grounds and clean some up... if thats whats draining it so fast that should be easy. I'll have to see if I can download it real quick.

So Tekster, you definitely have to have chamber compression for combustion? No I still have to buy/borrow a compression tester. I'm getting spark...

Does anyone have a picture of the plastic cap on their fusible links and relays for a b13?

Edit: Never Mind, found it EL-176

A really cold night can weaken a battery also..Just thought I would throw that out there.

Ameen, the fusible link of which I speak is not the usual plug-in affair. It's actually a wire, maybe 8 inches long, that plugs into one of the ports on the positive battery terminal itself. It was about $15 from Nissan, no one else carries a direct replacement because of the plugs. It's possible the NX has a different setup, I've never had one or played with one either...

my car started doing the same thing, i just found out my alternator ground was loose and i thought it was the alternator itself, my speedo, tach and radio wouldnt work but i still was able to use the hazard lights so check that out and hope it helps
