Solid lifter questions
I'm getting the Tomei solid lifter kit and I heard that you need to get their cams as well because of the difference in angle that the rocker arms sit at. I was told that if I don't, there's a possibility of breaking rocker arms at high RPM, so my question is this: I have JWT S4 cams. I like them a lot and would like to keep them. Is what he's saying true? Also bear in mind I don't intend to revv my SR20 any higher than it does stock (7500 RPM).

Thanks guys!

Ohhhhh waitaminute. Houston, we have a problem - they only make the solid lifter cams for the RWD SR20's, and I have a FWD one. Can I take my cams to a machine shop and have them re-grind them for this?

Why not use the JWT cams for GTi-R?

I'm not familiar with the GTi-R engine. Do they use sollid lifters in it?

again just for the thread, there is absolutly no problem with using rwd cams in the fwd sr20's, the only difference between the two cams is that the exhaust cam gear dowel pin on the cam is longer on the rwd ones for the crank angle sensor drive gear. When using a fwd cam such as the S4's on a rwd (which ive done several times now) you only have to switch the dowel pin from the rwd one onto the s4 exhaust cam. This is done by jwt if you purchase them new from them and tell them its going in a rwd motor.

Now using the rwd one on the fwd you can leave the longer pin with no problems at all. It makes no difference and doesnt affect anything. Hope this sheds some light on this subject.
