Window Tint Removal options?
Guys,

My tint on my rear glass is real blurry and starting to bubble up, it's difficult to see out of it. I was wondering what the easiest way to remove the tint is, as I have zero experience with this. Is there any solution I can buy to dissolve the tint? I don't want to mess up the rear defroster. Any help would be appreciated.

Let the car sit in direct sunlight for a few hours or use a heat gun/hairdryer. This should loosen up the adhesive. Work up a corner and slowly pull the tint, use a razor blade or some other tool to help along the stubborn parts.

My tint came right off on a hot summer day. It left residual adhesive which was removed with Goo Gone.

I've removed tint before with windex and a razor blade. Heating it up like Nitelife said helps a lot too.

Hmmm...I thought common sense would dictate that you should be careful if using the razor-blade close to the defrost lines.

Honestly mine came off without using the blade for the most part, or course it was only on the car for about a year. I suppose it would be more difficult if the tint was in place for a longer time.

Steam cleaner sounds like a good plan too.

cool,,,,

razor blades should never be used on or near the rear window,,, unless its the last resort ,,,, also using the chemical's such as AMMONIA or 409 or GLASS CLEANERS will harm plastics if not covered up correctly,, ,, why use nasty chemicals when you can use a steamer (NO SMELL) or risk of staining the plactics inside the car..,.,

common sense can be looked at by so many different opinions,,does not mean that its the right way or the wrong way... ,, whatever works best is where experience comes from,, now for myself I learned not to use razor blades on the rear window defrost lines 23 yrs ago when I started working in the film industry..,,,,

steamer is the only way,,,, side windows can be done different,,

hey AztecSR20,,

I saved Jon's (sr20forum member)rear defrost lines,,, film was on this car for over 7 yr,, it was dry and crusty..... took me 2 hr on rear glass only... but by removal of film and adhesive the proper way will result in a fine job

,,, the only bad thing about that thread,, well ,,, if your a window tinter by trade as I am ,,,, we know NOT to use steel wool on the defrost lines,,but not all of us do the same work either.

the slightest scratch on 1 single line will result in failure of that line not working anymore,,,, even your finger nail will scratch the line enough to not work...

Hmm, that write up looks pretty good. I may give that a try, but I'm scared of ruining the defroster.

If you use the steamer method you have a 99.9 percent of saving the lines.,,

I'm just trying to point you in the right direction without all the BS,,,, ...... ?? !!
