No its usually just hard abuse that does that, but when it actually fails its usually when driving normal, a tob will do nothing to cause that. They are usually just to the point of breaking and then they fall apart, ive never had a clutch disk fail while abusing it, its always while driving being thats where the car spends most of its time.
So true, my last one failed when I was just pulling up to a stoplight, waited, shifted to first, started to pull away (not) - nothing there left at all. Had to get it towed home.
When the trans was pulled,
all the material had just dusted and fallen off the plate - here's how it looked 8k earlier, I think just age, heat, etc. killed it. DC wasn't hard on clutches, 50% of my use with it was highway. Centerforce IIRC -
Now I have a Stage 2 JWT/B15 OEM setup from Greg V, like that a lot for NA power levels, but guessing it would not hold up to the kind of numbers you're putting down.
