I wouldn't say it takes as much wiring mess as installing a Honda ECU in a Nissan. I'd actually say it takes a lot less. You'll want to wire in a Wideband O2 sensor and MAP + IAT sensors instead of the MAF (not mandatory by the way) but wiring in three sensors is a lot easier than swapping harnesses or making an adapter harness plus messing with swapping distributors and cam angle sensors.

like ben said the aem ems is very close to being plug and play, when i got my ems like he said alls that needed to be wired was the o2 sensor, map and IAT and ALL of those are VERY straight forward, im not a wiring guru but it is very straight forward in telling you what is what, showing diagrams of the pins, it literally takes about a hour to install all sensors needed for the aem unit.

also how does it take too much money, it is very competitivly priced for a stand alone unit.

I didn't say it was too much money, I said it would take as just as much.

Well i looked around and seems the cheapest I found was for 900, and It was used.

I guess I wouldn't be hard at all to wire in a couple of sensors. Then again I know of any tuners in central TX, who mess with the AEM, most use motec, or haltec (rotaries mostly)

motec haltec autronic and so on, those are what you talk about some heavy wiring, maybe not all of them, but i remember at the shop i got my car originally tuned at they had to actually make a wiring harness from scratch to make one of the stand alones work, which one i forget might have been autronic or halteci forget, but as far as wiring goes, anyone can wire up the aem unit.

the same with goes for tuning the unit also, really easy, you can street tune or dyno tune it ecu.

the thing i was thinking is that if peopel are dead set on using the honda ecu systems why not look into other forms of tuning that the ppl in honda use such as uberdata, zdyne,or the others? why hondta? when there are other cheaper and just as effective tuning systems out for the hondas?

the other thing i will say is that there is such a lage community of people in the honda world i used to be in it also, and the good thing about that is there are tons of people who tune honda ecu, professional and non professional alike, where as there seems to be just a general rule of thumb tuning when it comes to the sr20det's where as the honda world they really have their hands on every aspect of tuning and can tune their engines very well.....thats not to say that you cant tune a sr20det really good, its just the ratio of sr20det users and b16 users definitly dont compete you just have so many people into hondas and so many people tuning them its really a better application to tune.

The shop that made my manifold does the whole "NISDA" conversion. They are really good at it, and it makes great power! It is also really really easy to tune and with stock honda ECUs there are standalone-like capabilities for a very reasonable price.

how much? dont get me wrong i am not knocking it, i come from hondas, and know alot about them and the hondata is very capable of doing exactly what every other system is capable of doing.

i wish for the sr20 scenes sake that we had the ability to get more people their hands on the calum realtime ecu, but if its not possible then the scene will have to switch to other forms of tuning, i would just like to see us get a system that everyone can use, that we support and is our own...but if its not possible you gotta go where you gotta go.

I finally found a guy I want to tune my car. Just wanted to know the progress on this. I seen it will be $1000 to do it. If this comes with the s300 ecu included it is well worth the money. What shop is doing the conversions can I have a link to the website or a email address?
