Brake install question
I'm about to swap calipers on my car. Is there a way to "plug" the end of the flexible line where it attaches to the caliper, to minimize the fluid drainage?

TIA

Stick a piece of rubber hose through the banjo fitting. Use a piece that is small enough to fit through but large enough to press against the inside of the fitting. No mess!

Duct tape? Anything will do. You can even just keep the line opening up high and it won't leak much. You're not going to get out of having to "bleed" the brakes though no matter what you do.

Oh I like NJse-r's idea much better. I forgot it was a banjo fitting. =/

If you get a plastic bag and remove the fluid cap, fill it up to the top, then lay plastic bag over the fluid reservoir, so you have two layers of plastic of the threads, tighten the cap.
This will leak a few cc's then stop, the vacuum in the reservoir will stop more fluid from running out.
Works ok.

It's not a banjo fitting - this is actually a set of Z32 brakes on my S13. Though that rubber hose idea is excellent.

Not trying to get out of bleeding, just trying to get out of having half a pint of brake fluid on my garage floor.

I'll try the plastic-on-the-reservoir idea, that's pretty good, and I'll bag the fitting for good measure. Maybe Saran wrap would work decently on the reservoir.

Thanks guys.
