I disagree about the aftermarket support. I think we have everything we'd need to be able to build a VE capable of pushing an N/A car to high 11's in the quarter. The part about us being cheap is spot on though.

no, I would say there are more cheap Honda owners than Nissan owners, but there are more of them. I'm sure the ratio is about the same though. Some people here do not mind spending 1200 on a good header, most will spring for the elcheapo ebay special. Same goes with Honda guys, most will throw Chinese parts on their cars, but some will spring for a handmade header. (header is just an example, but could be anything)

1/4 mile does not tell the whole story. I prefer to go to drags where there is an 800m or even 1km stretch. So you race 1km and get 1/4 mile times at the same time.

great 1/4 mile times = good traction (clutch setup, slicks, suspension setup and lsd) + good power to weight + some skill.

I think any VE or DE motor for that matter can go 11 seconds NA. Over here for example there are currently 3 N/A cars running in the 11's. The one is an opel 2.0 16v 20xe motor in a silly stripped out old corsa chassis. The next is a ford lazer using the old 2.0 16v ford/mazda powerplant, and the last is a honda b20 running on a meth mixture in a stripped out civic chassis.

All of those are track only cars. Tiny little biscuits for wheels at the back. Once piece noses to accomdate the giant slicks. Plexiglass windows etc. Personally I don't take much note of that. I'm much more impressed with street legal cars doing low 13's or 12's. VW's are popular over here cause they still manufacture the Golf 1 chassis to this day for the local market. These things weigh about 800kg and with a ABF 2.0 16v vw motor making about the same power as a very mild bolt on DE, they go low low 13's all day long.

If someone were to throw a SR20 in a chassis weighing 700-900kg then the same can be achieved no doubt.

I have the formula for that.
stripped civic hatch-$500
Fully built ve-$4000
Custom motor mounts-$200
axles ect.-$500
Slicks-$300
total=$5,500 for an 11 sec ve powered hatch

But, no one here likes hondas just put it in a b13 or nx you will get the same result. I prefer my turbo b13 over farty 11 sec hondas any day.

We have Nissan Micra's here which are about 850-900kg standard, and could prob be stripped to 700-750kg....there are 1 or 2 SR20 converted ones in the country, which go well. So with a 230whp VE they would be brutal.
